41489 - Sistemas de Instrumentação Eletrónica / Electronic Instrumentation Systems (UA)
The course main theme is the study of the instrumentation chain, dealing with the interface of the electrical system with the physical world. Since microprocessors are ubiquitous today, it also deals with the digital-analog interface.
The main competencies to be developed are:
- To know the basic concepts of metrology, its vocabulary and internationally established definitions.
- To know the devices that allow the transduction of various physical quantities in treatable electrical quantities, its physical operating principles and its characteristics.
- To know how to design circuits for acquisition of signals coming from transducers, and their conversion in forms more appropriate to its transmission/processing.
- To know the origin, quantify and assess the effect of internal and external disturbances on the electrical circuits, the main types of noise and its cause.
- To apply the knowledge and skills described above in the design of electronic instrumentation systems.
