Profile

He holds a degree in Physics from the University of Porto, 1987 and a Ph.D in Physics from the University of Porto, 1995. Since 2000, he hold the qualification title of 'Agregado' (habilitation) from the University of Porto, where he was, from September 1987 to April 2002, Professor at the Department of Physics. Since April 2002 he is Professor at University of Aveiro.

He is a theoretical physicist working on Statistical Physics. His research, in the last years, focus mainly in the study of complex systems and the structure and the evolution of complex networks like the World Wide Web, the Internet, biological networks, etc. Other interests are related with: granular media, self-organized criticality, non-equilibrium phase transitions, deposition models,etc.
