Nuno R. Candeias

Nuno R. Candeias was born in Lisbon (Portugal) in 1981. He graduated in Applied Chemistry from New University of Lisbon (2004) and received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Technical University of Lisbon, under the supervision of Prof. Carlos A. M. Afonso (2008). After, he took a post-doc at Lisbon University (Portugal) and at the Scripps Research Institute (San Diego, USA). In 2012 he became University Lecturer and independent researcher at Tampere University of Technology (Finland) where he later became Academy Research Fellow (2015). In 2020 he moved to the University of Aveiro as Assistant Professor. His research interests span multiple topics, including synthetic chemistry, green chemistry, medicinal chemistry and computational chemistry. As an independent researcher, he has been leading or been a team member of several funded research projects (4 in Portugal and 3 in Finland), while also supervising several bachelor projects (11) and theses (8 M.Sc and 4 Ph.D).
