The goal is to bring together Chemical Engineering students from all national higher education institutions and create a space for the exchange of experiences, bringing future chemical engineers closer to the industry. This is the main objective of the “National Meeting of Chemical Engineering Students (ENEEQ)”, which will be held online on March 29 and 30, and includes a series of activities centered around the theme: Industry 4.0.

The IX edition of ENEEQ is organized by a committee of students from the Integrated Master’s in Chemical Engineering at the University of Aveiro, with the support of the Academic Association of the University of Aveiro, the Chemical Engineering Student Group, and the University itself.

The organization states that "this edition is focused on the future, with planned activities about the theme of Industry 4.0: The integration of artificial intelligence and cloud computing in the industry and what our role as engineers will be in this new reality."

The opening of the event, at 5:00 PM on Monday, March 29, will feature the presence of the Rector Paulo Jorge Ferreira; the Director of the Department of Chemistry, Armando Silvestre; the Course Director of the Integrated Master’s in Chemical Engineering, Inês Portugal; the Coordinator of the Chemical and Biological Engineering College of the Order of Engineers of the Central Region, and representative of the District Delegation of Aveiro, Isabel Quintaneiro; and the President of the ENEEQ Organizing Committee, Emília Carreira.

On this day, four lectures will be held: “Eco-Friendly Materials in Food and Health,” by Cláudia Nunes, a researcher at CICECO; “Carbon Neutralization,” by Jeffrey Amelse, from the University of Illinois; “The Importance of Valorizing Science and Scientists,” by Rute Pereira, a PhD student in Nanosciences and Nanotechnology at UA; and “Resumes, Interviews, and LinkedIn,” by Tânia Melo, from Prio Energy.

On March 30, the lecture “AI: Promises and Challenges” will be presented by Mário Antunes, a PhD in Computer Science and finalist of three international competitions, and there will be a debate on “Industry 4.0,” with participation from Raquel Madureira – DEGEIT-UA, OEP; Carlos Brás, from Navigator Company; and Francisco Lemos, from Hovione. The session will be moderated by André Amorim.

The closing of the IX ENEEQ will feature the presence of the Deputy Director of the Department of Chemistry at UA, Sónia Ventura; the Vice Director of the Integrated Master’s in Chemical Engineering at UA, Carlos Silva; the President of the Academic Association of UA, António Alves; and the Vice-President of the ENEEQ Organizing Committee, Vinícius de Paula.
