♥ My main areas of interest are Algebra, Combinatorics and Graph Theory. I am particularly interested in Permutation Group Theory and their applications, namely in the study of symmetries of geometric objects such as Abstract Polytopes.
An Aveiro Theorem was my best result and, undoubtedly, the most difficult to obtain. Another highlight in my research career is my contribution to the beginning of the theory of Hypertopes.

On my way to the conference...
Symmetries and Covers of Discrete Objects, Queenstown, New Zealand, 2016

I did my PhD at UA in Aveiro in 2008 and two years later I got a Postdoc Position at ULB in Brussels.
I also had the experience of visiting for a couple of weeks prestigious institutions such as The Auckland University in New Zealand and The Fields Institute in Toronto.
I was honored to be one of the plenary speakers at SIGMAP 2022 in Alaska.

My Erdös number is 2.

I am always committed to defend the importance of mathematics in today's society. Here's my participation at RTP3, a Portuguese Public TV channel, UAU-Ciência sem limites.

I was just awarded a Chaire Internationale IN from Université Libre de Bruxelles.

@ UA

I am a member of the Scientific Council, the Director of the Bachelor of Mathematics and a member of the Math Department Council.

I have been teaching at the Math Department for almost twenty years. I was in charge of the following courses: Graphs and Combinatorics; Algebraic Structures; Advanced Topics in Algebra, Logic and Computation; Elements of Geometry. I also taught: Discrete Mathematics; Linear Algebra and Calculus.

I had one PhD student, Claudio Alexandre Piedade, who defended is thesis Faithful permutation representations of C-groups, in 26 of April of 2022, unanimously approved with distinction and praise.

Presently I am a researcher of the Optimization, Graph Theory and Combinatorics Group of CIDMA, before I was a member of the Algebra and Geometry Group of CIDMA.

I was, for two years, the Scientific Coordinator of the Algebra and Geometry Group of CIDMA.
