Job description:
Two postdoctoral
positions are opened in the Group of Complex Systems and
Random Networks at the Physics department of the University
of Aveiro, Portugal.
Research interests are in the field of the statistical
physics of complex networks and its applications (cellular
networks, the Web and the Internet, neural networks, etc.)
There are three options:
(1) A candidate may be a theoretical physicist with a good
record in the field of statistical physics or condensed
matter theory.
(2) A candidate may be a specialist in numerical
calculations and simulations.
(3) A candidate may be a person with experience of work with
cellular network databases and in bioinformatics.
The candidates should have a good command of English.
The applicants should have a recent (less than five years)
Ph.D. degree [or should prove that the Ph.D. degree will be
received in 2010 or maybe even in January/February 2011].
The anticipated starting date is September -- December 2010
(negotiable).
These are one-year positions with possible prolongation up
to 3 years.

Job description:
One postdoctoral position
is open in the group of Complex Systems and Random Networks to
model the function of real neural networks (in vitro systems).
The postdoctoral fellow will work in collaboration with several
groups belonging to an European Project.
Skills: The ideal candidate should
have experience in biophysics, and expertise in programming and
numerical analysis.
Experience working effectively in a team effort and excellent
written skills are favorable.
Salary:
17940 € per annum (no taxes), plus medical insurance within the
Portuguese Public Health Care system. A limited budget will also
be available for traveling.
The position is for the duration of 2 years,
starting as soon as possible. There is the possibility for an

The Complex Systems & Random Networks Group (GNET) at the University
of Aveiro in the Department of Physics, in the group of Professor José
Mendes is looking for applicants to fill one postdoctoral researcher
position. The research will focus on Complex Networks. The ideal
candidate should have a recent PhD and fit in at least one of the
following areas:
a) be a theoretical physicist with a good record in the field of
statistical physics or condensed matter theory.
b) the candidate is a specialist in numerical calculations.
c) the candidate has experience on work in computational analysis of
databases .
Full consideration will be given to completed applications as they
come in, until the position is filled. The position should start
before January, 1st 2007. A completed application consists of an email
