Two gas chromatographs are available for study of co-electrolysis/synfuel production and biogas valorisation technologies. 2 column Varian CP-4900 Micro GC (TCD detector), 2 column PerkinElmer Clarus GC (FID and TCD detectors)

Retsch PM200 High energy rotary ball mill for mechanochemical processing, Laurell automated spin coater for thin film formation.
 

 

   

Potentiostat/Galvanostat and Frequency Response Analysers


8 Multichannel Autolab PGSTAT302N Potentiostat/Galvanostat + FRA analysers (10 µHz - 1 MHz). Novocontrol Alpha-ATB analyser (3 µHz - 40MHz)
 

 

   

Electrical measurement cells


Many cells are available to perform the following experiments. EMF measurements (proton/oxide-ion transference number determination + external resistance correction), conductivity as a function of pO2, pH2O and T, 2,3 and 4 point measurements, I-V-curves, button fuel cell testing, determination of electrode kinetics, Faradaic efficiency, permeation. Larger diameter reactors cells are also available for study of gas phase reactions.
 

 

   

Thermal Analysis


Netsch Jupiter TGA/DSc, allowing thermal analysis to be performed up to 1650ºC. This equipment is linked to gas mixing apparatus allowing measurement as a function of pO2, and pH2O.
 

 

   

Hybrid Microwave sintering


The microwave furnace consists of two water cooled 2.45 GHz microwave generators, of power 1kW, arranged at right angles to each other in the horizontal plane. This equipment allows fast, hybrid microwave sinterin, currently up to 1200ºC.
 

 

   

Hydrogen generator
